At Agora Code Community, I had the privilege of being part of a dynamic and transformative initiative aimed at uniting Zambian developers and fostering a collaborative learning environment. Operating from the vibrant youth hub, Global Platform Zambia, our community was dedicated to providing a platform for networking and knowledge-sharing among aspiring tech enthusiasts. As a key member of the team, I actively facilitated a range of activities and events, enabling participants to explore various aspects of technology and innovation. Additionally, I took on responsibilities related to managing and maintaining the community's tech infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations and smooth facilitation of our initiatives. This experience not only honed my organizational and interpersonal skills but also instilled in me a profound appreciation for the power of community-driven efforts in driving positive change within the tech industry.
CIDRZ is an independent, local, non-governmental health organisation that has been an active partner of the Government of the Republic of Zambia through the Ministry of Health, and other Ministries since 2001. Our Mission is to improve access to quality healthcare through innovative capacity development, implementation science and research, and impactful and sustainable public health programs.
During my internship, I creatively automated report generation from key Indicators in SmartCare EHR System, reducing dataset generation time from 8 hours to under 40 minutes. Additionally, I developed and deployed a functional USSD data collection survey tool for a specific mobile provider. These experiences honed my technical skills and passion for impactful innovation.
During my tenure, I spearheaded the creation and upkeep of Data Collection tools for a patient-centered Health Care Project. A significant aspect of this endeavor was enhancing the USSD questionnaire to efficiently manage randomly assigned questions for patients under care in public health institutions in Lusaka. Moreover, I played a pivotal role in releasing the platform to all Mobile Providers, ensuring widespread accessibility to clients with mobile phones. Alongside these responsibilities, I successfully managed and provided support for other essential tools utilized in the project, such as RapidPro and ODK collect. Through these experiences, I strengthened my expertise in data management and contributed significantly to the project's overall success in improving healthcare delivery and services.
During my role in the patient-centered Health Care Project, I took charge of creating and maintaining advanced Data Collection tools equipped with SMS and USSD capabilities. Additionally, I played a vital role in providing comprehensive support for the developed tools, ensuring seamless functionality and user satisfaction. My responsibilities extended to proficient database management and data reporting, which led me to establish a connection to the SmartCare Database, Zambia's official public EHR system, enabling efficient data querying for impactful study impact reporting.
Furthermore, I skillfully managed and monitored the servers hosting the Data Collection Tools, ensuring their smooth operation. As the Development Lead, I led the successful construction of a Telemedicine Mobile Application for VMMC Recruitment, incorporating both offline and online features using cutting-edge android jetpack tools for data persistence. Through these diverse experiences, I honed my expertise and made significant contributions to the project's overall success in advancing healthcare services and telemedicine solutions.
During this experience, I led the reconstruction of the USSD platform, enhancing its readability and aligning it with a more streamlined MVC standard/architecture. Additionally, I introduced new functionality to the platform, allowing users to easily manage their Language preferences within the USSD menus. Furthermore, I provided dedicated support and consultancy services, efficiently resolving bugs and implementing crucial updates to ensure the platform's optimal performance. Through these efforts, I contributed to the platform's improved usability and overall efficiency, offering users a seamless and enhanced experience.
As the lead developer, I spearheaded the development and successful implementation of the provided design for the mobile application. I oversaw the seamless deployment of the application to both the Play Store and Apple Store, ensuring its availability to a wide range of users. Additionally, I diligently provided ongoing support for updates and new features, guaranteeing the application's continued functionality and user satisfaction. Through these efforts, I played a pivotal role in delivering a high-quality and user-friendly mobile application to the market.
As the project lead, I took charge of developing and implementing a tailored filling station management system with a comprehensive set of features. The system boasted offline functionality for uninterrupted operations and an online dashboard that allowed remote management of stations, with admin and manager access privileges. To facilitate sales tracking, we integrated POS machines, enabling fuel attendants to efficiently manage transactions. Leveraging cutting-edge technologies, we utilized JavaScript (React, Typescript) to build the dynamic Dashboard, while the backend was powered by Firebase. The POS machines were developed using Android Java, ensuring seamless functionality and user-friendly interactions.
